U&I is a cooperation between Tineke Hessels (UNI 10), Jan-Frans Middelhoek (JFM Werken), Manon ter Hogt en Maarten Versteeg (Brech). U&I is the abbreviation of United & Independent and that is exactly how they work, united by the love for modern jewellery design and building upon each others strengths. Yet at the same time working independently, giving room to their individual creativity.
Jan-Frans Middelhoek (JFM Werken)
Jan Frans Middelhoek graduated as goldsmith in 1998. Next to this he followed courses in fine mechanics and aerospace engineering. His collection offers genius tricks and surprises, that originate from his love for the extra ordinary.
Tom Wassing (.Wassing Edelsmeden)
Toms work is all about experimentation: pushing the boundaries and finding unique combinations of traditional and unconventional techniques. This results is a minimalistic, yet expressive designs.
Tineke Hessels (UNI10)
After graduating as a goldsmith from Schoonhoven and gaining working experience, Tineke Hessels opened her own store in Enschede. Her collection consists of simple yet strong shapes. She mixes skillful craftsmanship with modern day techniques.
Maarten Versteeg (Brech)
Maarten Versteeg studied Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, next to his education as a goldsmith. This background is reflected in the Brech Collection, which integrates jewellery with novel techniques and new materials.
